As of 11:51 a.m. the Elkhart River had reached 12.23 ft. in height.
Based upon the most recent projections by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association and the North Central River Forecasting Center, the projected river peak height of 13.2 ft. will occur sometime around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. At that elevation, that is at 2.1 ft. higher than the river elevation record.
Fire department is out working on evacuating areas as called upon. A safe haven location (shelter) has been determined at First Baptist Church on Indiana and Plymouth Avenue.
The declaration of emergency remains. As stated in the declaration, we ask residents reserve travel for only essential needs.
