Days after the wake of a major flooding event that caused destruction to Elkhart County residents’ homes, closed roadways, and destroyed property, the Elkhart County Commissioners are uniting with the mayors of Elkhart and Goshen to help establish the proper channels to route important and essential information to all Elkhart County residents still suffering from the aftereffects of the flood. As a result of this, a joint public information team, composed of representatives from Elkhart County Emergency Management, the City of Elkhart, the City of Goshen, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, the Elkhart City Police Department, and local fire departments, has been developed to provide accurate and up-to-date information to flood victims, the public, and to the media.

Beginning on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, the joint public information team will meet regularly to develop and provide the most up-to-date information to flood victims, the public, and the media through regularly scheduled press conferences and social media venues. Updates and information will be provided through the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department webpage located at www.elkhartcountysheriff.com. City and County agencies needing to provide information to the team should send this information to jpurdue@elkhartcountysheriff.com.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we move forward to provide the best service possible to our community.
