First annual Art for Everyone: A Small Works Project is set to take place at the Goshen Historic Theater mid-September.

The Mayor’s Arts Council will host a newly created collection of nearly 200 small works from area artists plus a number of interactive performing artists all on stage at the Goshen Theater this September 15th. They call the event “Art for Everyone” and are bringing together an assortment of area talent, celebrating the largest multidisciplinary fine art collection ever organized at the Goshen Theater. In its first year, Art for Everyone will display the works of over 75 artists, with performance artists in the mix, too, including The Dean’s List, and popular YouTube sensation Ted Yoder on his hammer dulcimer.

Each Small Works ticket is stamped with a unique serial number. All Small Works tickets are blindly matched to an 8″x10″ piece of original fine art from a local artist. Throughout the evening ticket holders will be given the opportunity to swap their art with another.

Additionally, Art for Everyone will also include a one night exhibit of Beauty and Bowls. There, 12 clay vessels paired with 12 pieces of jewelry all made by local artists, will be displayed. Each pairing will be coupled with a floral arrangement from Flowers by Phoebe. All work in this exhibit will be listed for sale.

This is an interactive event where guests will be talking and exchanging art freely and frequently. On the evening of the gala, each Small Works ticket holder goes home with a piece of original art.

“Our goal is to make this event annual to increase the awareness of the huge number of fine visual and performing artists that we have right here, locally,” said Kathy Stiffney, planning committee member who also sits on the Arts Council, “there really is Art for Everyone.”
